Fire crews tackle house fire in Blackpool

Fire crews rushed to a fire at a home in Blackpool this morning (Friday, January 15).

Three fire engines from Blackpool and South Shore were called out at 5.25am after a fire broke out in the living room of a terraced home in Rydal Avenue, near the junctions with Central Drive and Grasmere Road.

The fire service said a casualty had been treated with oxygen after suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

Ambulance crews also attended, but the person did not require hospital treatment.

A fire service spokesman said: "Firefighters found a fire involving the lounge of a domestic property. One casualty had managed to get themselves out of the property and was treated by firefighters with oxygen.

"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two hose reels and a ventilation unit.

"The casualty was given a precautionary check by ambulance crews at the scene but they did not attend hospital."
