'Number of cats found dead' after fire breaks out at house in Blackpool

Two fire crews from Blackpool were first sent to the scene in Grosvenor Street at around 3.20pm.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a "well developed" fire on the ground floor of the property.

Hide AdThree additional fire engines were called and firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels to bring the flames under control.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has now confirmed all the occupants are accounted for, but "a number of cats" have died.
"Firefighters have conducted a thorough search of the property to confirm all persons are accounted for," a spokesman said.
"Unfortunately a number of cats have been found deceased and firefighters administered oxygen therapy to one cat who was found alive."

Hide AdAn ambulance and a rapid response vehicle also attended the incident.
Two people were treated by paramedics at the scene but they were not taken to hospital.
The number of fire engines has since been reduced to three and firefighting operations are ongoing.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "I can confirm that we were called to Grosvenor Street, Blackpool, at 3.23pm and there are closures in place at the junctions with Buchanan Street and Milbourne Street."

Hide AdTraffic has been building in the area and anyone travelling in the vicinity has been advised to take alternative routes.
