Do you, Harley Quinn, take this villain, The Joker, to be your lawfully-wedded husband?

Comic book fans Karla Harris-O’Connor and Brent Harris certainly achieved their aim of a wedding with a difference as they tied the knot just yards from the scene of their first date.

Guests joined the happy couple in dressing up as heroes and villains from the Suicide Squad and Batman stories for the ceremony at the Festival House wedding chapel on Blackpool Promenade, followed by a reception at Tiffany’s Hotel.

“We had our first date at the Beach House, just next door, and soon found we had a mutual love of comic books,” said 37-year-old civil servant Karla.

“We wanted the wedding to be a little bit different so we went for a Suicide Squad and Batman theme, with me dressed as Harley Quinn and Brent as The Joker.

“They were said to have a ‘mad love’ and we thought that was so appropriate.”

Karla’s son Liam, seven, dressed as Batman for his duties as best man while Karla’s dad Phil gave her away dressed as another legendary Batman villain, The Penguin.

Karla, who is originally from Poulton and works at Warbreck House, met fork-lift truck driver Brent, also 37, from Coventry, via an internet dating site and the couple have been together for three years.

They live at Norbreck and are planning a honeymoon to Disney World, Florida next year.
