Family pay tribute to man after Warton crash

The family of a Blackpool man killed after a head-on collision paid tribute to him today.

Eric Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash on Lytham Road, Warton, on Monday.

The 28-year-old had been driving a Citroen Saxo car towards Lytham when the car collided with a Mercedes Benz travelling in the opposite direction.

In a statement his family said: “Eric was hard working, easy going and was absolutely adored by all his family and friends.

“He loved to be outdoors, had a good sense of humour and had the ability to make everyone laugh.

“He will be sadly missed and always loved.”

A Facebook page set up in his honour by friend Samantha Lawless saw heartfelt messages left to Mr Sanders.

David Simpson said: “So sorry for your loss.”

Callum Hunter said: “Rip bud.”

Ms Lawless added: “...broken ain’t even close to how I feel – emotional 
overload.”

The incident, which happened around 9pm, saw the road closed for six hours to allow collision investigators to carry out their work.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, a 24-year-old man from Preston, and a 24-year-old female passenger, also from Preston, were taken to Royal Preston Hospital with lower back fractures, where they remain.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to call 101.
