Coby Davenport from Newton was diagnosed in April with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

Intially told he had mumps, his condition deteriorated and after being air-lifted to Manchester Children’s Hospital, he suffered a heart attack and had to be put into a coma.

The Newton Bluecoat pupil has since started chemotherapy, and although he faces a long course of treatment, a tumour around his major organs has reduced by 70 per cent.

Now his friends and family want to give something back to Manchester Children’s Hospital, The North West Air Ambulance Charity and Ronald McDonald House.

Coby’s Godmother Diane Ireland has helped organise the event at the Queen’s Arms in Poulton Street, Kirkham.

She said: “He died within minutes of arriving at hospital and it took two hours to bring him back. If he hadn’t been airlifted and had such good care, we don’t know what would have happened. We want to say thank you, and also to Ronald McDonald House where Coby’s parents James and Niki stayed.”

During the event which starts at 3pm, there will be a display of Fred Dibnah’s Land Rovers, a bouncy castle, face painting, live music, a cupcake stall, a raffle, and an auction of prizes including signed and framed football shirts, a Phil Taylor signed dart board, an iPad and laptop.

Diane added: “We hope Coby will be well enough to come along. He’s doing well at the moment, but has a new course of chemo next week.

“He’s a rough and tumble little boy , he’s very loud and boisterous, so it’s been a terrible shock to see him so poorly.”
