Families in Blackpool are being encouraged to make the most of a range of free sporting activities taking place this weekend.

A family fun day will see a host of free activities at Blackpool Sports Centre tomorrow.

Fylde-based Paralympian star Shelly Woods will open the event, in association with Change4Life, which runs from 10am to 4pm.

Free exercise classes including zumba and spinning will be available to try out for free, along with badminton, table tennis and sessions on the climbing wall.

The high ropes course, the underground mole hole and water sports on Stanley Park lake will also be available to try out for free.

People can also have their picture taken with the Olympic Torch, and will qualify for a discounted membership at all of Blackpool Council’s leisure centres, as well as being able to enter a competition to win a free six month membership.

Shopping rewards are also available by downloading the free ‘Bounts’ app on their phone, which gives shopping vouchers and discounts for carrying out gym activities.
