Families are set to enjoy a fun-packed Easter extravaganza this weekend with a host of activities on offer across the resort.

Stanley Park will be a hive of activity with a range of classes and events for all ages – from Easter Bunny hunts at the Model Village to one-off salsa lessons at the park’s bandstand – over the next fortnight.

John Blackledge, Blackpool Council’s director responsible for parks, said: “Stanley Park is a fantastic place to visit throughout the year, but this Easter there are lots of events for families to enjoy.

“Whether it is enjoying some sport or just having a relaxing walk, there is something for everybody.

“When the sun comes out, the flowers look stunning, too, and I hope lots of people come to have a walk around.

“Everybody who visits is there to enjoy themselves.”

An Easter fair and bonnet parade, arranged by the Friends of Stanley Park, will take place on Easter Sunday between 11am and 3pm at Stanley Park’s Visitor Centre.

The best Easter bonnet designs, for both children and adults, will be paraded at noon.

Also on Easter Sunday visitors to the park can take part in a free salsa class at the bandstand between 1pm and 5pm, courtesy of dance group Noches de Salsa.

Other options include strolling through the picturesque Italian Gardens, sports pitch hire for just £38, as well as golf club hire for the putting green and crazy golf courses.

The new boats on Stanley Park lake, including motor boats, rowing boats and pedalos, are also available to hire.

For those who like to run off some energy, sports camps, which run throughout the school holidays at Blackpool Sport and Palatine Leisure Centres, offer the chance for children to do sport aged from five upwards.

Open sessions to try out the Blackpool BMX Club at the Stanley Park track are also held on Saturdays, with both bike and equipment hire available, while a racing holiday club is taking place tomorrow and April 9,costing £5 for members and £7 for non-members.

Local residents can grab a bargain with Blackpool Model Village offering a buy one get one free for all Blackpool residents on entrance tickets to the attraction, which also includes the family Easter Bunny hunt which takes place between Friday, April 3 and Sunday, April 12.

Running for more than 10 years, the annual Easter Bunny hunt at the Model Village is a firm family favourite.

Other activities across the Fylde coast include an Easter Eggstravganza at Penny Farm on Preston New Road from 11am to 4pm between April 3 and 6.

Families will have a chance to meet the horses, ponies, take part in an Easter egg hunt, badge making and a design an Easter Egg competition.

An Easter Northern and Modern Soul All Nighter – featuring DJs playing classic and in demand Northern and Modern Soul – will be held from 9pm on April 4 and 5 at the Winter Gardens.

And the Friends of Lytham Hall have organised an Easter Sunday Family Fun Day between 11am and 4pm. There will be an Easter trail, bouncy castle, tombola, and prizes for the best Easter bonnets.
