Former Blackpool midfielder Neal Bishop has had a conviction for driving without due care and attention overturned.

He had been found guilty of making an alleged illegal U-turn in his Mercedes on the A584, at Clifton near Kirkham, in February this year.

He was found guilty at Blackpool Magistrates Court last month, but the same court decided to remove the conviction on the grounds that Bishop, 33, formerly of Manor Way, Wrea Green may not have received the original summons, as he had moved clubs and now plays at Scunthorpe United in League One.

Bishop entered a not guilty plea to the offence, and a trial date will be fixed.
