Everyone is proud of Jumael and his A Level success
18-year-old Jumael, who suffers from mitochondrial disease, achieved two A’s in chemistry and biology and a A* in maths.
Jumael, from South Shore, will now be going study biomedical science at Lancaster University.

Hide AdMitochondrial disease affects the cells of the body which are unable to produce enough energy.
This means Jumael is unable to do things such as holding a pen and cutler and he finds it difficult to walk far distances.
His parents, mum Tamima Farabi and dad Imam Zafar, have had to help him write his homework for as he dictates it.
A delighted Jumael praised the support he received from the Academy
He said: “I feel proud of the grades I received today.

Hide Ad“My time at St. Mary’s has been absolutely wonderful because of all the support I received from the amazing teachers.
“Without them I would not have been able to achieve this.
“I cannot wait to now get started on my biomedical science degree at Lancaster University”
He says he plans to have a family meal to celebrate his success.
Jumael’s form tutor Mrs Pickworth was lost for words at how well he has achieved and nearly cried finding out his result.
