There was no earthquake in Blackpool yesterday morning, an expert from the British Geological Survey said.
A ‘noisy’ seismic graph was shared on Facebook dozens of times earlier this week, with the caption, ‘Did the earth move for you in Blackpool?’
But British Geological Survey spokesman David Galloway said: “I’ve checked our network around Blackpool and can confirm there was nothing detected.
“What [was] seen on our station AQ04 is noise outbursts at the site, and possibly some radio interference. It is a noisy site, you can see the difference by looking at the signal during night time compared to daylight/working hours.”
The AQ04 monitoring station, one of several on the Fylde coast, is based at Ballam.
