The plucky seabird first caught the attention of KFC customers back in May, when it was spotted with a 20 inch bolt protruding from its body.

The brave gull has not only survived the cruel crossbow attack, but appears to be thriving in the KFC car park in Devonshire Road.

When it was spotted this week, it had been busy battling other birds for scraps from a Mighty Bucket For One Meal.

The seagull can still fly and appears unhindered by its grisly injury.

In May, concerned members of the public had tried to get a hold of it to take it to a vet, but the skittish gull retreated on approach.

Wendy Mulela, who has a degree in Animal Science and runs the Homeward Bound animal welfare charity in Blackpool, said the bird is fending well and does not appear to need any help.

She said: "The fact is that any surgery on the gull for this injury would most likely kill it.

"Since the gull is fairing well and leading a normal life without intervention, it is best left alone."
