Gusts of more than 50mph hit Blackpool yesterday as Storm Hector swept across the Fylde coast.

The Met Office said that the storm peaked at 7am with gusts of 55mph hitting parts of Blackpool and Cleveleys.

The wind remained strong throughout the day while a weather warning for the wind stayed in placed until 3pm.

The strong gusts had managed to fell a tree in Woodland Grove, Thornton.

There was also a flood warning in place for the Wyre Estuary during the high tide.

One person who didn’t let the weather ruin his day was infamous street dancer, Peter Emelone, who was spotted as early as 7.30am dancing in front of the Tower in shorts and a rainbow afro wig.

The self-proclaimed king of positivity said to The Gazette: “It was fabulous.

“I went out this morning not realising that it was this windy.

“I enjoyed myself and some people joined in with me.

“It does not matter if it is rain, sunshine or snowing, it’s fun all the time for me”
