Business is looking good for Poulton-based fashion designer Kirsty Martin.
The 29-year-old thought she would turn her hand – literally – into making a hobby a way to make money.
And the business – named You, Me And Twee – has been successful so far.
Kirsty believes in hand-making all her items and tries to source her materials and fabrics locally.
She designs and creates one-off or small order accessories and women’s wear, which are unique and cannot be found anywhere else.
She hopes to offer one-off vintage pieces soon, too.
She recently teamed up with Blackpool-based RAW Photography, and launched an online boutique via the Asos Marketplace website.
Kirsty, who studied art and design at university, said: “I’d always wanted to start my own business and I’ve always been interested in design and fashion.
“All the items at You, Me and Twee are designed and hand-made by myself. I have a workshop set up at home.
“I make everything from phone covers to purses, from scarves to jewellery, vests to kimonos.
“All the pieces are one-off items, they are unique – so anyone who owns one will know no one else will have the same as them. I like to use kitschy fabrics, but give them a modern twist. They appeal to a range of ages, really.
“I try to source fabrics and materials locally, in Blackpool and Poulton, wherever possible.
“I believe in supporting other local businesses. There’s new items on the site every week, it’s always being updated.
“Eventually, I would love to create a fashion label which sells nationally, and world-wide, with all the designs created in the Fylde – and to hire fashionistas locally to work with me.”
