Veteran entertainer Joe Longthorne ‘sang his heart out’ at an emotional 60th birthday celebration.
The Blackpool singing star took to the stage at Viva in Church Street for the performance (pictured) - ahead of tomorrow’s show at the legendary London Palladium.
Last week, Joe candidly revealed to The Gazette that he was once again facing a battle against cancer, as he waited for the conclusive results of tests concerning a lump in his chest.
But in true showbiz style, the show must go on and he performed to a capacity crowd at the cabaret spot on Thursday night, with his friends Billy Pearce and Darren and Stephanie Day, as well as Viva director and host Leye D Johns.
Fan Michelle Backhouse was in the audience.
She said: “It was an amazing and a very emotional performance. Joe sang his heart out. My admiration for this man grows every time I see him. The place was packed to capacity and Blackpool loves Joe.
“Just when everyone thought he had finished, he caught us by surprise and came back to sing the song Joe describes as summing it all up: The Impossible Dream.
“I have never known anyone with so much courage and determination.
“You could feel the love in the room for the greatest entertainer.”
