An unusual evening for Blackpool firefighters saw a crew called out to help a parrot which got into a bit of a flap.
The bird flew out of an open window and perched outside a building, on The Saw Mills, near Corn Street, Blackpool, where it came under attack from a pair of magpies. Firefighters were called at 6.20pm on Tuesday and used a ladder – and protective gloves – to coax it down safely.
Crew manager Charlene Winchester said: “It got tired and sat on a first-floor window ledge – it was a bit ruffled and stressed.
“We get all sorts of different calls but we’ve not had a parrot before.”
