A children’s centre run by the same governing body of a school which was criticised by Ofsted has been praised as offering good provision.

Baines Endowed Children’s Centre has been told by inspectors that it provides an “emotionally
secure environment” where children “progress” in “all areas of their learning and development”.

The children’s centre, on Penrose Avenue, Marton, was praised for being “a friendly and welcoming nursery” where “the quality of teaching is good” and children are prepared well for starting school.

Its sister primary school was told back in October that it required improvement, by Ofsted, but has since shown inspectors it is taking “effective” action and making “good progress” following another report in January.
