Famous sisters are backing charity

THREE of Fylde's favourite songbirds are to become ambassadors for a charity close to their hearts.

Anne, Linda and Denise Nolan being made patrons of the Blackpool and Wyre branch of the Alzheimer's Society.

The Blackpool-based stars' mother Maureen, who died on New Year's Eve, had suffered from Alzheimer's for a number of years.

Their sister Coleen opened the Fylde's first Alzheimer's Society information centre in 2006.

And Anne – who has herself battled breast cancer - will be giving her support for the local charity in person tonight at its first fund-raising dinner dance.

The event, entitled One to Remember will take place at The De Vere Hotel, at Heron's Reach and will include a raffle, auction and meal.

Mary Oxby, branch chairwoman, said: "The One to Remember dinner dance promises to be a fantastic night.

"We have a great venue at the De Vere Hotel, fabulous entertainment from the Mike Lovall and good company."
