Of the 469 students completing their honours year at B&FC in 2017/18, over 30 per cent achieved first class honours – compared to a national average of 25 per cent.

This is a testament to the hard work students have put in throughout their programmes, supported by teaching staff with specific industry expertise.

In 2016, B&FC was bestowed with Foundation Degree Awarding Powers by the Privy Council, demonstrating confidence in the College’s ability to deliver high quality higher education.

This was followed by the College receiving the highest possible gold rating in the new national Teaching Excellence Framework for higher education in 2017.

Since then the College has been working to develop its initial programmes and this year launched its first foundation degree in Marine Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

This year has also seen the College continue to push ahead with development of degree and higher apprenticeships, which provide new opportunities to secure meaningful and fulfilling employment for students.

The College launched its rebranded commercial arm, B&FC for Business, which works with more than 1,000 companies across the country to co-create and deliver these higher level programmes.

In April, a record number of B&FC students from across a variety of curriculum areas were invited to present their work at the prestigious British Conference of Undergraduate Research at the University of Sheffield.

This followed on from B&FC BEng Project Management students, Alex Dawson-Brown and Geoff Powell, being invited to present their research to MPs and key decision-makers in Parliament.

B&FC offers more than 60 degrees accredited by Lancaster University, a top 10 UK institution and 2018 Times and Sunday Times University of the Year.
