A DRUNK teenager carried out a sickening racially motivated attack on an Asian girl.

Gemma Taylor hit out at the 16-year-old who was walking with her mother on Blackpool Promenade.

Taylor, 19, of Milbourne Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to an offence of racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Louise Whaites, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, said the defendant and a man appeared to have been in a dispute at the time.

The girl’s group may have been looking at what was taking place as they passed by.

Taylor then shouted at the girl in racist terms and went on to punch her to the head.

When asked why she had done it, she claimed the group had been laughing at her.

The victim went to hospital and it was found that two of her front teeth were damaged. They are likely to need replacing. What took place had knocked the 16-year-old’s confidence, the court was told.

Sophie Cartwright, defending, said Taylor had considerable remorse for what had happened. She was disgusted at committing the offence.

Miss Cartwright added: “She would like to apologise face-to-face to the girl.

“There have been significant changes in her behaviour since then. She has been attending Streetlife on a frequent basis”.

The case had been adjourned to September 28 for sentencing.
