A man who was told by medics he was drunk refused to leave a hospital.

Adam Mee sat in the waiting room at Blackpool Victoria Hospital drinking from a can and was abusive to security officers.

Mee, 25, of Clevedon Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

He was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs with £15 victims’ surcharge by District Judge Pamela Baldwin sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Mee was assessed at hospital by medical staff on March 6 who told him he was drunk, he did not need treatment and asked him to leave.

Gerry Coyle, defending, told the judge Mee said he had been at the hospital three hours and he had not been seen or assessed after going there with chest pains.
