A DRUG dealer jailed for selling heroin and crack cocaine has been ordered to pay back £4,000.
Peter Gillan, 36, of Dickson Road, Blackpool, was jailed for fours years in October 2010 after being convicted of possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply
At a Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing at Preston Crown Court a judge deemed Gillan had benefited by £31,709.01 as a result of his drug peddling.
His available assets were set at £4,941.01, which have now been seized as a result of the confiscation order.
Alan Todd, financial investigator for Lancashire Police said: “The Proceeds of Crime Act is a useful tool when it comes to removing the assets of those who have benefited financially from their criminal behaviour.
“Law abiding citizens should not have to witness criminals living off their ill-gotten gains – POCA seizures put a stop to that.
“Gillan was well known in the Blackpool area and his activities severely impacted upon the lives of local residents – they will no doubt be pleased to know that his criminally amassed cash has been taken from him.”
