Highways England is repairing the bridge which carries the link road from the southbound M6, over the M6 itself and then onto the westbound M55.

The repairs – to tackle collision damage – include barrier and structural repairs on the link road bridge and were due to start today.

Highways England project manager Mark Mosley said: “These repairs are vital in ensuring the link road, and M6 under it, remain safe for motorway users.

“We would like to thank drivers for their patience.”

The repairs will take place between 10pm and 6am each night for the next 12 nights.

Most of the nights involve the closure of two lanes but three of the nights will involve a complete closure of the southbound carriageway.
