Two police officers, PC Cheetham and PCSO Grimshaw, conducted a community road watch on Hardhorn Road in Poulton close to St Chad’s School on Tuesday morning.

They reported ‘disappointing results’, with many of the passing vehicles well exceeding the 20mph speed limit on the road, which young children often cross to get to the school.

A police spokesman posted to the Thornton Cleveleys and Poulton Police Facebook page: “Approximately 100 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and far too many were exceeding the 20 mph limit.

“Please share and get the message out that 20 is plenty especially when there are small children in the area.”
