Driver who had '˜one too many' drinks is banned
A driver stopped by police had had one too many drinks with a friend.
Peter Mullington, 61, of Holly Grove, Skitham Lane, Pilling, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said police stopped Mullington’s Ford Ka on Preston New Road on the suspicion the vehicle had no insurance on June 1 at 3.10pm.
Officers could smell drink on him and a breath test showed 54 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.
Brett Chappell, defending, said his client was of previous unblemished character.
He had had drinks with a friend but felt fit and able to drive.
Mullington was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £120 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
