Driver in '˜serious condition' after M6 crash

Police say a man has been left in a serious condition following a collision on the M6 yesterday evening.

The incident happened at around 5.20pm when a black Toyota Corolla travelling southbound with three passengers on board has travelled from the third lane, coming off the carriageway and collided with a barrier at junction 35 at Carnforth, setting on fire.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Bolton, suffered pelvis and head injuries. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a critical condition, police say.

The front seat passenger, a 29-year-old man from Preston, was left with a broken collar bone and the back passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Bolton, suffered spinal injuries.
