Driver denies 85mph chase in 30mph zone

An alleged dangerous driver has made his first appearance at Blackpool Magistrates' Court.

Jordan Riches is alleged to have driven at speeds of more than 85mph in a 30mph zone at South Shore and gone through red traffic lights while being pursued by police.

Riches, 20, of Faringdon Avenue, South Shore, pleaded not guilty to driving a Renault Megane dangerously on Common Edge Road, Marton.

He is also alleged to have driven while disqualified, without insurance, and to have obstructed police in the early hours of Monday.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court. Defence lawyer, Stephen Duffy, asked for bail for his client.

Riches was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 2 by magistrates.
