A Lancashire DJ is making the biggest move of his career – to spin the tunes Down Under.
Greg Burns will join Australian radio station, Nova 96.9, in the mornings from July.
Greg currently hosts the Number One Drive show for Capital FM in London, which has an average audience of more than 800,000 listeners.
Greg has spent the last nine years with Capital. Previously he was a presenter on London’s Heart FM and Virgin Radio from 1998 to 2007.
He was brought up in Kirkham and attended The Willows Primary School and Kirkham Grammar School.
It was while a student at KGS he started his first mobile disco. He did his first radio work experience at Red Rose Radio before moving to Radio City in Liverpool.
Greg’s parents still live in Lytham, as do his two sisters.
He said he was over the moon to be working Down Under. Greg said: “I fell in love with Australia years ago after visiting many times to perform at Comedy Festivals and Sydney in particular is just an amazing city.
“Coming to work at Nova is my dream scenario, I can’t believe it’s actually happening.”
Paul Jackson, NOVA Entertainment’s Group Programme Director said: “Greg is one of the outstanding talents in the UK radio industry. I’m thrilled that he is joining the Nova team. “His passion for music, his infectious humour and love for Sydney will instantly endear him to our listeners.”
Greg is also an award-winning comedian and has appeared on many comedy shows on the BBC and ITV including The Office Christmas Special, as well as doing stand up.
He has also hosted the Summertime Ball from Wembley Stadium and the Jingle Bell Ball from the O2 Arena.
