An hour of non-stop disco dancing is not how most people would choose to celebrate their 82nd birthday.
But Alan Houghton, who had his birthday this week, will take to the streets of Blackpool to undertake the feat – while bouncing on a trampoline.
Mr Houghton, of Bloomfield Road, plans to dance for 60 minutes without a break to raise money for Cancer Research.
His will be boogying on Bank Hey Street at noon tomorrow, next to Boots, in memory of his girlfriend, who died of cancer two years ago.
Jean Gittus was just 54 when she died and Mr Houghton is calling on people to come along and give generously to support his efforts.
He said: “I’ve been doing a lot of charity work but this is my biggest one yet.
“I’ve done the Land’s End to John o’ Groats and I cycled from Blackpool to York in a day.”
But despite tackling the 100-mile trip in a matter of hours, he said the non-stop dance spectacle could be his most challenging fund-raising effort yet.
He said he hopes people will turn up to enjoy the show, from 12pm to 1pm, and drop money in his collection bucket.
