Dip into some fun on pond trail
Nets were at the ready as members and volunteers of North Blackpool Pond Trail took part in a pond dip as part of an open day at Carleton Crematorium.
The event featured a short service, a display of cars, refreshments an dragonfly making for children as well as the pond dipping session at a pond by the Sage Close entrance of the crematorium.
Pauline Taylor, North Blackpool Pond Trail (NBPT)community development officer, and NBPT volunteers were on hand to help a group of children find a variety of pond life from water scorpions to newts.
A spokesman for NBPT said: “This was a great opportunity for people to find out about wildlife that lives in the local area.
“The children really enjoyed the pond dipping and making dragonflies out of pipe cleaners and beads.”
The North Blackpool Pond Trail’s next event – the Big Butterfly Count – will be between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, July 29.
Meet at the bird viewing area at Kincraig Lake, off Kincraig Road.
The event is free to attend.
