David's huge challenge for a fantastic cause

David Shuttleworth, 50, will canoe 21 miles around Windermere in the Lake District, hike for half a day across the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in Yorkshire, and then take on a 15-mile sprint triathlon in two months time.

He is aiming to raise around £1,500 for Trinity Hospice in Bispham.

David, who lives at Rossendale Road, said: “I’m in the gym four nights a week which I need to do or I’ll just completely fall flat.

“Trinity Hospice is such a good cause and I’ve done smaller charity events before but nothing like this.

“This will be a great challenge for me personally but raising some much needed funds for Trinity will be a great and worthy cause for me and will spur me on to the finish.

“The more money I can raise for the hospice the better.”

Lisa Martin, community fundraiser for Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice, said: “We are blown away by David’s determination and enthusiasm in taking on this gruelling fundraising challenge.

“We would like to say a massive thank you and we are with him every step of the way. Every penny of the money he raises will go directly to patient care here at the Hospice and we are very grateful.”
