Dawson died of a heart attack on June 10 1993, aged 62.

His daughter Charlotte, who was nine months old when he died, visited his statue in St Annes at the weekend, and posted on Twitter: “Lovely day celebrating my dad’s fabulous legendary life...so lucky I get to snuggle your statue wish it was the real deal though. Can’t believe it’s 25 years.”

Charlotte, 25, launched her own fashion label in March.

In the same tweet, she said: “My Eternity polka dot two piece NEW IN - @fredafunk_ buy yours now www.fredafunk.com.”
