Cyclist injured in rush hour crash

A cyclist was taken to hospital following a collision with a car in Thornton.

The accident happened at around 5.25pm on Monday in Stanah Road, close to Stanah Primary School.

The rider, a man in his fourties, collided with a silver peugeot.

He was treated in the road by paramedics and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

North West Ambulance service said the man was treated for bleeding and suffered bruising to his face.

Stanah Road was closed for around two hours following the incident with traffic diverted away from the scene.
