Residents living by one of Blackpool’s biggest parks have have said the council are allegedly neglecting it.
Kingscote Park in Layton is second only to Stanley Park in size and residents believe Blackpool council are cutting costs by not maintaining the southern section of the park with grass being left long as well as trees and bushes overgrown.
Local resident Stan Thomson says the trees and bushes are an eyesore and it used to be an open park.
He said: “I have lived opposite the park for 47 years and it has never been this bad.
“It has always been a playing field but its overgrown way too much now.
“I offered to cut it back but the council said I would not be insured to do so.”
Coun Mara Kirkland for Third Sector Engagement and Leisure Services, said: “While a lot of the park is mowed and cleared it has been agreed with the Friends of Kingscote Park that some areas will be left and allowed to develop naturally.
“The south end of the park has a number of young trees and if they mature they will further enhance the area.”
