The team of seven raised the money for Hint of Pink, which donates its money to Blue Skies Hospitals Fund – the charity behind Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – to enhance care for breast care patients.

Part of the money, £214, was raised through the sale of a breast cancer information booklet, which was specially made by customer service advisor Stacy Bryce, and match funding by the jewellery firm.

The team then added a further £320 by pooling the £40 each Beaverbrooks employee is given to donate to a charity of their choice.

Stacy, from St Annes, said: “I volunteer at the Breast Care Centre and, after talking to the girls at work, we decided we would do all we could to raise money for this cause.

“I decided to put together the booklets about how to check for breast cancer for both men and women, and sold them in the office for £1. They were really popular.”

Speaking about the team donation, Andrea Harkin, also a customer service advisor, said: “We decided as a team to pool our charity money together, and we were keen to donate to a relevant cause and one which was local. We have colleagues in local stores who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, so it was fitting that we donate to Hint of Pink.

“We are really lucky to work for a company which not only gives us money to make a charitable donation, but gives us the choice in where it goes.”

Ruth Boardman and Rena Shanahan set up Hint of Pink to raise money for the Breast Care Centre at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

They said: “We are absolutely delighted with these two very generous donations from the girls at Beaverbrooks.”
