A student bricklayer who told police he behaved badly when drunk left a trail of destruction after drinking on the beach.

Jonathan Smith caused hundreds of pounds of damage to two cars he kicked and a wooden fence on Cumberland Avenue, Cleveleys, on April 23.

Smith, 19, of Halton Avenue, Cleveleys, admitted three offences of damage and one offence of possessing cannabis.

He was sentenced to go to an attendance centre for 12 hours, ordered to pay compensation of £615 and £85 costs.

Smith was also ordered to pay £60 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
