A TEENAGER has been jailed for a year after pleading guilty to a raft of offences including assaults, drug possession and having a claw hammer as an offensive weapon.

Aaron Barker, of Grizedale Road, Mereside, admitted a series of various offences when he appeared in the dock at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to four offences of assault which all took place on August 6 including one case of assault on a serving police sergeant.

He also admitted having a hammer as an offensive weapon as well as possessing the drugs cocaine and cannabis.

Barker further admitted causing criminal damage to a Volvo car by smashing one of its windows. He was sentenced to 12 months’ prison by the magistrates sitting at the court on Bonny Street in Blackpool.
