Woman stabbed in stomach

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Fleetwood.

Police were called to an address at Hatfield Avenue at around 3pm today.

On arrival they found a 45-year-old woman with stab wounds to her stomach.

She has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

Police described her condition as ‘poorly’ but her injuries are understood not to be life threatening.

A 62-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of attempted murder and is being interviewed by officers.

A crime scene remains in place around the property.

DI Gareth Willis of Blackpool CID said: “We have launched an investigation into this incident and currently have one man under arrest. I would urge anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed what happened to contact us on 101.”
