A WOMAN tried to stab her partner through the bathroom door after he locked himself in.

Blackpool Magistrates’ Court heard Julie Cooper’s partner hid in the room and alerted police on his mobile as she plunged a 10-inch knife through the door “six or seven times” during a row.

The 54-year-old, of Preston New Road, Marton, admitted criminal damage to the door at the court yesterday.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, described how a row broke out after the couple had returned home from work one night and started drinking.

Cooper’s partner pleaded with her to calm down as she damaged her own coffee table, but then hid in the bathroom when she grabbed the knife.

Kathryn Sinclair-Jamieson, defending, said the relationship had now ended and added: “She is unlikely to trouble these courts again and is getting the support to start a new life.”

Cooper was placed on a year’s supervision and ordered to pay £60 victims’ surcharge.
