A young woman was forced to flee from a bearded man who sexually assaulted her in Blackpool, say police.

The 20 year-old woman was walking along Highfield Road near to the junction of Wyndham Gardensbetween 10.30pm and 11pm on Friday, May 25 when she was approached from behind by a man.

Police say the man followed the woman for a short distance before grabbing and sexually assaulting her. The victim then fled from the scene on Highfield Road.

The man is described as white, 6ft tall, aged 20 to 30-years-old and of large build. He had a beard, was wearing a black hoody with white tassels and grey, possibly black jogging pants. He was also carrying a bottle of beer.

Police are now appealing for information following the incident.

PC Lauren James, of Blackpool Police, said: “The victim was walking home when she was approached from behind and attacked.

“The woman managed to free herself before making off from the scene.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and believe a number of teenagers may have been in the area around the time of the offence. If you saw what happened, please contact us.”
