Woman ‘pushed police officer’

A drunken woman pushed a policeman in the chest as the officer tried to help her.

Deborah Paton admitted obstructing the police when she appeared before District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police were called to 49-year-old Paton’s home on St Andrew’s Road South,St Annes by paramedics.

They had been called by Paton who had been drinking but had not taken prescribed medication.

Steven Townley, defending, said: “A witness says that she did not deliberately push the officer but tripped on a loose rug and fell.”

Paton was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
