Woman knocked to floor and robbed in 'shocking' attack near Tesco Express in Bispham

A woman was attacked during a "shameless" robbery in which her handbag was stolen near Tesco Express in Bispham.

A woman in her 40s was walking from Bispham village car park towards Tesco Express in All Hallows Road when she was approached from behind by a man at around 6pm on Saturday, August 8.

The man proceeded to push the woman to the ground, knocking off her glasses, before stealing the victim's Cath Kidston handbag which contained bank cards and cash.

He then ran away from the scene in the direction of the Red Lion pub in Devonshire Road, leaving the victim with "minor injuries" to her knees.

Officers are now appealing for information and believe a number of people will have seen what happened.

PC Andrew Potts, of Blackpool Police, said: "This was a shocking and shameless attack on a woman walking to the shops.

"The victim has been left very shaken and we are appealing to members of the public for their help in locating the offender.

"The Cath Kidston handbag which was stolen is quite distinctive. Did you see someone running away from the scene with the bag? Can you help our investigation? Please get in touch immediately."
