A woman punched a man in a takeaway because she wrongly believed he had been rude to her and called her fat, a court was told.

Tracey Black, 33, of Drummond Avenue, Layton, pleaded guilty to assaulting a 21-year-old man.

She was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £50 to her victim.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs with £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Paul Foster, prosecuting, told the court the incident happened on July 12 at around 3.30am.

The victim was in a takeaway when Black, who was drunk, came up and asked why she had been insulted.

The victim had not spoken, was then punched in the mouth by Black, the court was told.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said Black had mental health problems.

He said she had been taunted by a group of lads who walked past the takeaway.
