Anna Torres, 42, of Vernon Road, St Annes, denied dishonestly making a false statement, but was found guilty of the offence after a trial.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, asked for the case to be adjourned to evaluate how much benefit money, if any, Torres had been overpaid.

The case was said to involve a property for which Torres received rent.

Torres was bailed to April 16 for sentence by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
