Woman arrested at crash in Wesham was 'over four times legal drink drive limit'

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash in Wesham, say police.

Police were called to reports that a red Alfa Romeo had crashed into traffic lights on Fleetwood Road at around 11.15pm on Tuesday, July 17.

A roadside breathalyser revealed that the woman was over four times the legal drink drive limit after she provided a sample which showed there was 156mg of alcohol on her breath, said police.

The legal limit is 35mg of alcohol per 100mg of breath.

A spokesman for Fylde Police said in a post to social media: "[This] Alfa Romeo which has some how, on a straight road, crashed into a traffic light on Fleetwood Road in Wesham.

"[The driver] has provided a road side sample of breath of 156. She has been arrested for drink driving and no licence."

The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old woman from Wrea Green, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and is in custody.

Nobody is believed to have been injured in the incident.
