A woman was allegedly assaulted and a fire started at a home in Grange Park, say police.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire on Shipley Close at around 9am on Monday, June 11.

Firefighters arrived to find the occupants of the house were outside and the fire had already been extinguished.

A spokesman for the police said: "Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished. Only minor damage was caused.

"A woman received minor facial injuries after reporting she was assaulted."

A 45-year-old woman from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of arson, assault and affray.
