An elderly woman suffered serious bruising after being robbed in Blackpool.
The 81-year-old from Staffordshire was holidaying in the town and was walking along the promenade from Knowle Avenue between 7.45pm and 8pm on Monday.

As she approached the Fossil Tree Hotel on Queens Promenade two men came up behind her. One of them grabbed her handbag and pulled her to the ground.

The men made off from the scene and, after removing cash and a bank card, discarded the bag close by.

Police say the woman suffered “significant bruising” to her hip and arm.

Det Con Neil Smith, of Blackpool Police, said: “This must have been a very frightening incident for this lady. I understand that there may well have been a number of people in the area at the time and I would ask that anybody who has witnessed the incident or has any information that would assist contact Blackpool Police.”
