A woman was over the limit after visiting her mother and drinking some wine, a court was told.

Suzy Pieri, a 35-year-old mother-of-two, of Ashley Mews, Ashton, Preston, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned from the road for three years, fined £110 with £85 costs and £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said police saw Pieri’s Citroen Saxo go through a red light on Blackpool’s George Street on June 24 at 1.27am. A breath test showed 48 micrograms of alcohol in her body – 35 is the limit. She had a previous drink drive conviction from 2008.

Alan Godwin, defending, said Pieri’s mother, who had multiple sclerosis, lived in Blackpool. The day of the offence she had been there and had a couple of glasses of wine.
