A wife told police that her husband had been drinking and then driven off in a car with their young daughter.

Ian Kilpatrick was caught on Blackpool’s Grange Park Estate and found to be more than twice over the limit.

Kilpatrick, a 29-year-old warehouseman, of Douglas Crescent, Uddingston, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £130 with £85 costs, plus £20 victims’ surcharge, by Blackpool magistrates.

A breath test showed 84 micrograms of alcohol in his body – 35 is the limit.

Suzanne Mugford, defending, told magistrates: “He drove a short distance round the corner, realised he must be over the limit and pulled up. He co-operated fully with the police.”
