A man was reported to police after being seen throwing a wheelie bin and trying to get into a mini-bus.

Stephen Ferris, 46, of High Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and shoplifting.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police arrested Ferris after he behaved in a drunken manner in Chesterfield Avenue on October 25. He refused to keep the noise down and swore at police insisting he was staying where he was.

Between September 21 and 22 Ferris stole five watches valued at £50 from Argos, Albert Road.

Martin Hillson, defending, said his client, who had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, had significant alcohol problems which had been the ‘bane of his life’ for the past 10 years.

Ferris was fined £80 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.
