At 6.17pm, paramedics were called to reports that a 23-year-old man had suffered stab wounds at a home in Fairhurst Street.
North West Ambulance Service said an ambulance and a rapid response unit attended the home and the man was taken to hospital.

Hide AdIt said it is unable to comment further as it is a 'police incident' and happened at a private address.
But Lancashire Police has confirmed that the man suffered minor injuries and was discharged later in the evening.
Police said no arrests have been made, but an investigation is ongoing.
Officers cordoned off a section of Fairhurst Street, between Gorton Street and Elizabeth Street, whilst officers searched the area for evidence.

Hide AdThe incident sparked a flurry of speculation on social media regarding the extent of the man's injures.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at about 6.25pm to a report of a stabbing on Fairhurst Street in Blackpool.
"A 23 year-old-man was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries and has since been discharged.
"Enquiries are ongoing.
"No arrests have been made at this time."
